Breaking up the Family
I will be discussing this topic more in the near future but I just wanted to get this out now before I lose track.
Why is is it that here in America the family is expected to split at a determined time called going to college away from home? I do not know where this idea originated from but it has been the driving force for students and parents alike. A teenager is forced to leave home for college unless there is some sort of college close to home…….
Turning 21 and NOT drinking!
Honestly, this has not been an easy decision for me to make. But maybe it has (explained later). I am also fully aware that many of you will not even care what I do or don’t do. Why should you, right? So, I guess this is more for me than anybody else but my hope is that somewhere down the line if not sooner there will be others what will, in their creative way, somehow be proactive.
I will be turning 21 this Friday, May 30. Yay, right?! I am really excited about it! It makes graduating from Azusa Pacific (the school that I attend) seem more within reach! Another thing I am excited about is committing to complete and utter freedom of alcohol. Under no circumstances am I currently drinking nor have I ever had an alcohol problem. In fact, very soon, I will be one year clean from doing any drugs or drinking respectively. If the last time I have done drugs or drank was only a year ago and I was clearly underage when I did both, then why is this even a big deal?! Really, it isn’t. As this is my story, fortunately, this is a really big deal to me! Let me elaborate. (more…)
